Faye James, LPC
Counselor
I was born in London, United Kingdom and moved to the United States when I was 14 months old. What was supposed to be an 18 month job assignment, turned into our forever home.
I grew up with my three brothers and our family has grown with two sister-in-laws, and a sweet little nephew and niece. I am married to my wonderful husband and we have a German Shepherd named Samantha (Sam).
I enjoy spending my time challenging myself through working out and creating a healthy lifestyle and spending time with the people closest to me (especially spoiling my niece and nephew). I enjoy traveling to new places and seeing different parts of the world. I enjoy the mountains to hike and other countries to learn history and culture. Trying new things and experiencing challenges have helped shape me into the person that I am today.
I have always had a passion for helping others. Throughout my childhood, I chose to volunteer and help in areas of need. This started my passion for philanthropy which continued through college and life.
This taught me about the importance of having unconditional positive regard towards another at a young age. Working with other individuals in difficult situations showed me the resilience that others display when facing adversity. This drove my passion to learn more about depression, anxiety, and trauma.

Professional Background & History
Throughout my education, I worked in a forensic setting with high-risk teens, young adults, and adults. My training included diagnostic psychological evaluations/testing and individual counseling focused on trauma, anxiety, and depression. Since earning my Master's Degree, I have been providing individual counseling for those experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and other challenges.
The main therapeutic modalities I utilize are Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My goal is to help clients identify their strengths and build upon them to help them achieve their therapeutic goals.
Throughout challenges, it is hard to see the past the current situation and find solutions. The therapy process is guided by my clients to meet the goals that they have set for themselves. I provide the support and guidance to help collaborate on their journey through therapy.
By creating healthy challenges, I am able to help push my client past their fears of change. Everyone experiences hardships throughout their lives. Having a safe place to process through those hardships and traumas can help restore an individual’s hope and bring a more positive approach to life.

My Approach
My path to becoming a teen counselor, young adult therapist, family therapist, and marriage counselor & couples therapist started with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. I majored in psychology and minored in communication sciences and disorders. These two degrees helped me understand developmental milestones, and how positive relationships and experiences can impact a teenager and young adult's life.
After graduating with my Bachelor's degree, I completed a Masters of Arts in Forensic Psychology at University of Houston-Victoria. This degree enabled me to acquire the skills and knowledge to become a child, teen, young adult, family therapist, and couples therapist and marriage counselor.
